So tiny, are they for a motorcycle or something?

They're front coilovers and rear shocks for my Triumph Spitfire project :) I've got a Triumph 6-cylinder to go in, so the stock suspension won't really cut it.

They're for my Triumph Spitfire, so you're right. Very dinky :)

I learnt to drive in my dads 1973 Spitfire. It was a lovely car, although a tad quirky.
Getting into a 2004 Seat Ibiza afterwards felt like the height of luxury.
I do miss the Spitfire a lot.

Sweet :) it seems like everyone over a certain age owned a Spitfire at some time or other.
I can't wait to drive it after its restoration . It's only a matter of time :)

It would have been amazing to keep the car and keep it in the family, But repairs, insurance and road tax led to the car having to be sold on sadly !
If I am correct , the guy who bought it but a petrol engine from an Avensis in it??
Cannot wait to see it when its done !

You get allsorts put into Spitfires. Probably because it's a cheap body-on-chassis car.
Someone even put a helicopter turbine in one :)
There were some pretty damn hot engines that were put into Avensis' actually. Similar ones that went into MR2s. With a bit of tweaking you could probably get 200bhp+ from some of them.

You're forgiven for the Toledo part. At least now I know this.
Won't the I6 of a TR6 be a bit heavy up front an de-balance the car somewhat? I know Triumph did it (mounting a I6) themselves with the GT6 but that was a bit smaller (at least when it comes to the cc) and had an aluminum head, not sure the TR6 does.
Will have glorious sound this spitfire, of that I'm sure! Keep us posted!

Thanks :)
The GT6 had an iron head just like this one, it just had the added weight of the hard-top to balance it out. It's the same basic engine in the GT6 and the TR6, but the GT6 has a shorter stroke to give it its 2 litres.
I've given the weight distribution quite a bit of thought. The Triumph I6 weighs 58kg more than the I4, and the beefier gearbox weighs 6.6kg more. To offset that I've got a fibreglass bonnet (saves 16kg), fibreglass valences (saves 2kg), a lightweight starter (saves 2.4kg), an alloy radiator (saves 2.2kg) and a lightened flywheel (saves 6kg).
I will be getting an alloy backplate (saves 3.6kg), a lightweight alternator (saves 1.95kg) and an alloy water pump and housing (saves 2.9kg)as well as relocating the battery to the boot (takes 18.6kg off the front).
Put that all together and it'll only be 7.95kg heavier on the front end :)
That could be reduced a little by the tubular manifold I'm getting, but I can't find accurate weights on that so I'll have to wait until I've bought it.
If I want to spend a little more, I could get an alloy frontplate (saves 1.25kg), alloy hubs (not sure, no weight values given) and various other little alloy bits like dizzy pedestals and alternator brackets (saves roughly another kilo).
That starts to get expensive for the amount of weight you save though, unless I can find some parts used.

You've thought it through thoroughly, should be no problem then. 8kgs should be no problem. Just think about the magnificent sound you'll produce.
Was a bit confused with the sprintfires, those Dolomite Sprint engines used had the aluminum heads, right?

I'm not sure they did either, although I may be wrong.
It's going to sound brilliant :) here's a bit of a taster (the second car hopefully)

Done some research and you're right. The Dolly Sprint engines did have an alloy head.
You learn something new every day :)

Well, I did too. Because Alloy isn't exactly Aluminum is it ;-) But learning is a big part of being on the oppo-zone, thanks!
